The eye of the osprey in WATCHER

NORTHERN VIRGINIA, October 18, 2026. Aha! Concepts, a creative studio serving Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and the greater DMV region, has won two Golds and a Silver at the 2026 MUSE Creative Awards: Season 2 for WATCHER, an original AI short film. The film took Gold in Video, Short Film, a second Gold in Video, and Silver in Video, Sustainability and Environment.

Organized by the International Awards Associate (IAA), the MUSE Creative Awards recognizes creative work that is not only well produced but purposeful in how it communicates. Season 2 drew more than 5,000 submissions from around the world, with entries from organizations including NBCUniversal, Amazon News, Sony Group Corporation, Unilever and Dell Technologies, and winning work made for names such as The LEGO Group, Disney, Paramount+, W Hotels and Bentley Motors Europe. A small studio from the DMV stood alongside them.

The award-winning film

WATCHER follows an osprey watching the Patuxent River in Prince George’s County, Maryland, as the environment around it changes. The osprey speaks for generations of ospreys who have held that river longer than anyone. The film asks viewers to pay attention to consequences close to home, and to see what he sees before it’s gone.

Directed by Anfon Ha, Creative Director of Aha! Concepts, and written with Bryan Daniels of Daniels By Design, WATCHER began as a submission to the Prince George’s County Film Festival’s Climate and Environmental Storytelling track. Every picture in the film was generated with AI. Every word is a human voice: the narration is a performance by Michael Taliaferro, a narrator out of Baltimore. The edit, the grade, the sound design and the mix were all done by hand.

WATCHER

The film is defined by restraint. Everything is seen from above, from a fixed altitude, on a long lens. No face appears, and the osprey stays out of frame until the final shot. The rules were written before a single image was made, and the script was cut from 5:31 to 3:34.

“WATCHER is about one river in one county. I wanted to know if a story that close to home could reach people far beyond it, and MUSE puts work in front of judges from all over the world. Winning two Golds, including Short Film, and a Silver in Sustainability and Environment tells me it does. AI is opening the door to stories that budget, wildlife or logistics would have kept off the screen. But the idea, the research, the restraint and the edit still have to come from people.”

Judged by an international jury

Season 2 entries were reviewed by an international jury of 94 professionals from 22 countries, through a structured blind judging process that weighed the strength of the idea, the quality of execution, and the impact of the final work. Jurors included creative leaders from Meta, IKEA, The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, Saatchi & Saatchi Health and The LEGO Group.

“Creativity earns its power when an idea reaches people clearly and stays with them. The Season 2 winners of the 2026 MUSE Creative Awards show how creative work can carry a message with confidence and leave a meaningful impression.”
